Charlotte's Beach Family Maternity Session

I absolutely loved this early Spring Maternity Session at a North Wales beach. Not only were the people beautiful, but the lighting was just dreamy. Although it can work all year round with good planning of naps, Spring is a great time for outdoor sessions with younger children, the slightly warmer days and earlier evening are the perfect combination.

George's Newborn Session - Day 6

Edney Family Outdoor Session

I have had such a great year of outdoor family sessions in and around Cheshire this year.

For my outdoor sessions, I always look at booking them in around an hour or so before sunset (depending on the length of the session). During the summer months, parents often worry about keeping little ones up late. In this case, I generally recommend altering the naps a little on that day but I always find that when the little ones are out and about they are just so happy and excited to be doing something different and fun, they’re not thinking about sleep (but they will definitely sleep well for you that night!). The reason I push for this timing is to get that beautiful, soft evening light. It really does make such a difference to your images and gives us a lot more flexibility and use of space. I guarantee, it is so worth any initial concerns!

Clothing wise, I am currently working on putting a guide together for parents, but I simply suggest wearing what suits your family. Both colours or plainer clothes both work well, so long as your outfits compliment each other. Layers are great, and I love braces and accessories for little boys! Flowing skirts for mums and girls are great for adding some movement into your images. And I do recommend avoiding any large logos! But at the end of the day, these are your memories to go on your walls, not mine :)

I loved this session with the Edney Family. Like many, they are returning clients of mine and it is so nice to see them grow. I love the colours and the light was just magical here! We had fun talking about the corn, spotting planes and making friends with nature (spot the slug!!!). I hope that they can treasure these memories year on year and will look back with a smile on their faces.
